Over five hundred faithful of the Anglican Communion Awka Diocese, have received confirmation and admissions into Women’s Guild and Fathers’ Fellowship.
The event, which took place at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith Awka, has the faithful drawn from the Cathedral and five other parishes from the diocese.
Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that while preaching during the service, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, reminded the faithful that the Holy Spirit helps greatly in the transformation of the life of a genuine born again Christian.
Bishop Ibezim, who titled his sermon, “Empowered to be a Witness, lamented that many Christians go to church, only to register their names without working for God.
The Archbishop, who implored the church to serve God without grudges but with their resources, told the newly admitted and confirmed faithful that God has called them to be witnesses and instruments to expand His kingdom.
The wife of the Archbishop and President, Mothers’ Union and Women’s Guild, Awka Diocese, Mrs. Chioma Ibezim exhorted the newly admitted women to be witnesses of Christ and live up to expectations for the growth of the church and their various homes.
The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA in the November sixth Anambra Governorship election, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, who was admitted into Father’s Fellowship said the event offered him the opportunity to renew his commitment with God urging Ndi Anambra to vote for APGA for good governance and quality leadership.
A Staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Awka, Mrs. Amaka Chibuzor Okoye and Mrs. Chidera Okafor, who were admitted into the Women’s Guild promised to be good ambassadors of Christ, even as they vowed to uphold moral values in their various home.
The event, capped with thanksgivings service, also featured presentation of admission certificates.
