Anambra State Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, has said that increased knowledge and use of ICTs in teaching will make teachers remain relevant in the profession.
Professor Omenugha stated this at an Education intervention program held for sixty teachers in six secondary schools in the State.
She noted that though technology cannot replace teachers, teachers with ICT knowledge will surely replace others without, a reason for Anambra to increase their knowledge and use of ICTS.
Professor Omenugha, who explained that embracing ICT helped education in the State to thrive when COVID-19 led to shutdown of schools nationwide, attributed the success story to commitment and resilience of the Obiano administration.
She commended the sponsors of the intervention program for appreciating and keying into the Obiano administration’s vision in education sector, especially donating education materials such as computer sets and accessories, text and exercise books, laboratory equipment and white boards to benefiting schools, charging participants at the event to put all they have gathered to use.
