Nelvia Empowerment Foundation has organized a one-day empowerment Programme for widows and fatherless children at Amichi, Nnewi South Council area.
The beneficiaries were drawn from communities across Anambra state.
Correspondent Njideka Okoye covered the programme and reports that the empowerment programme comes up every month to touch lives positively.
Speaking during the October edition of the programme, the sponsor, Evangelist Winifred Okafor stated that she has passion for serving humanity to ensure that they achieve the purpose of God for their lives, noting that the project is aimed at alleviating the suffering of widows by empowering them.
Evangelist Okafor said they have trained many of the widows on skill acquisition in different areas, empowered them financially and gave scholarship to over fifty fatherless children in both primary and secondary schools level, and thanked God that they are all doing well.
The Coordinator of the empowerment foundation, Pastor Hope Unaka, expressed happiness that the foundation which was initiated last year, has transformed many lives, adding that it is a non-denominational monthly programme aimed at assisting the Widows and the fatherless which she said is yielding positive fruits.
Pastor Unaka stated that the foundation gives interest free loan to widows for businesses to be paid back after one year, expressing satisfaction that many of them make it in three months, while the scholarship scheme for the fatherless, will take the children to any level of education.
The leader of the children unit Ms Uchenna Nnajiofor commended the initiator of the foundation which she said has benefited the fatherless not only in paying their school fees but also training them spiritually and morally by inculcating the fear of God in them.
Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs Christiana Chukwuchewem and Mrs Violet Asika, gave testimonies of their benefits from the foundation and prayed for God’s blessings on the organizers.
Free medication to the windows, songs and other displays by the children also featured during the programme.
