Centre for Transparency Advocacy, CTA, has called for early opening of all polling units across Anambra State today, to enable electorates exercise their franchise.
The Executive Director, CTA, Lady Faith Nwadishi made the call in Awka during an interactive section with journalists and members of the group on today’s election.
Correspondent Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that Lady Nwadishi commended the level of professionalism displayed so far in the state by the security agencies, and called for synergy among them throughout today’s election.
She reminded Ndi Anambra that they are the chief executive officers of the state with their Permanent Voter’s Card, and as such should shun all manner of vote mortgaging in order not to regret their actions in the next four years.
Lady Nwadishi while emphasizing on the need for punctuality of all officials playing one role or the other at the polls, explained that based on their findings, there will be no election in eighty-six polling units out of the initial five thousand, seven hundred and twenty units created in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as they have no voters.
Some of the members, including Professor Anthony Kola-Olusaya, and Professor Alex Asiabo commended the INEC for making sure that the Anambra election holds as scheduled despite all threats, and expressed hope that the commission will do the needful to ensure that the exercise is credible, free and fair. !
