The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has been urged to improve the functionality and usage of Bimodal Voter Authentication System in future elections.
In a communique issued in Awka, spokesperson of Team of INEC Accredited Observer Groups for Anambra Governorship Election, Prince Stafford Bisong said the new technology performed below expectations as they could not authenticate some of the voters to enable them cast their votes.
Prince Bisong asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to intensify sensitization of electoral officials and ad-hoc staff on the management of Bimodal Voter Authentication System for effective utilization in subsequent elections.
He noted that INEC incompliance with the Electoral Act 2010, made adequate arrangement for the Electoral materials, manpower, security network and other logistics while commending Anambra State indigenes for exhibiting high level of discipline, hospitality and commitment to the sustenance of the credible electoral process and democracy in Anambra State in particular and Nigeria in General.
