Hundreds of sympathizers, family members, friends and associates have bade farewell to Late Mrs. Joy  Anosike, , of Umuatolu village Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area.

 

The deceased, who died on eighteenth August, 2021 was the only daughter among four children, with two preceding her in death.

Late Mrs Anosike is survived by children, including Senator Emma Anosike, Publishers of Daily Times, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, grandchildren, brother, nephew, nieces and many friends.

 

Aged eighty-three, the deceased was a devoted Christian,  Anglican church member and community volunteer, who belonged to many groups that promoted evangelism and sustained growth of the Anglican communion.

The funeral service of late Mrs. Anosike at Immanuel Anglican church Umueri was presided over by the Anglican Bishop of Niger West Diocese, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe, and assisted by the Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor.

 

Bishop Ekwe described the deceased as a woman of substance and committed Christian mother, while Bishop Ikeakor in his sermon, urged the Anosike family to take solace in God over the demise of their mother, saying that her death is a reminder that everyone should trust in God.

The deceased was later buried at her husband’s residence amid tears and prayers from family and community members.

 

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Dr. Uche Nworah was among many dignitaries that commiserated with the bereaved family.

 

Speaking on behalf of the family, the first son, Senator Emma Anosike, and the Publishers of Daily Times, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, said since they lost their father, a Junior Police Officer, forty years ago, their mother, until her death, continued to show she was the best mother they could ever have, even as her first grand son, Mr. Somto Maduka narrated how he lived with his grandmother and prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.
