The need for continuous engagement of young people as a way of arresting youth restiveness and related vices has been advocated.
The assertion was made when Nibo Youth Dialogue held a special Youth Engagement Series at the Nibo Civic Center, to redirect the focus of youths.
Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the event which is the second edition of ‘Bold Step’ series had the theme, ‘‘It is Possible; A Broad-Based Youth Motivation and Empowerment Campaign’’.
In his opening remark, the President General of Nibo Town Union, Dr. Innocent Akuvuo described the event as laudable and commendable and encouraged the organizers to do better next time.
Speaking on behalf of one of the illustrious sons of Nibo and Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Obi Nwankwo, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Dr. Uche Nworah who stated that the concept of Bold Step is all embracing, noted that it involves working hard in life and urged the youths to develop an adventurous spirit into other realms, instead of remaining only in Nibo.
Earlier in a Keynote Speech, a son of the Community, Dr. Uche Onyilofor who made efforts to stimulate a rebirth and regeneration of the mindset of participants, called on the youth to focus on becoming better people by taking responsibilities, to change their future.
In a discussion, Professor Tony Nwokoye another son of the community who shared how courage and bold steps led to who he became in life, encouraged the young ones to actively participate in activities of their community, asking them to love Nibo first, from where they venture to showing love to other communities.
Dr. Dozie Okoye who tutored on the Effects of drug abuse, emphasized that it is dangerous to abuse drugs, and made special mention of Methamphetamine commonly called mkpurummiri, stressing that drug abuse has social and economic problems, canvassing that to combat the menace, a multi-stakeholder collaborative efforts is needed.
Speaking on behalf of the Organizers, Engineer Chigbo Obealor, appreciated support by their members and supporters.
Bold Step Series has the vision to redeem and empower the Youth of Nibo, which is the brainchild of concerned Nibo men and women, home and abroad, geared towards helping the youths of Nibo from age thirteen and above, to realize their potential and create a spring board for them to become economically independent through legal and honest means.
