Still relishing the party’s victory in the just-concluded Anambra governorship election, the Anambra State Chairman of the All-Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sir Norbert Obi has hosted Ekwusigo constituents in his country home, Ozubulu, to thank them for voting massively for the party at the poll.
Ekwusigo Local Government Area is among the nineteen council areas that were cleared by APGA during the election, with the party getting two thousand, five hundred and seventy votes out of the six thousand three hundred and ninety-one votes cast in the area.
Daniel Ezeigwe reports that being one of the local government areas under strong political contention in every election in Anambra State, Ekwusigo Local Government Area claims to be one of the highest political wards in the state.
Speaking at the occasion, the Speaker of the state Assembly, Right Honorable Uchenna Okafor, said that by pitching their tents, once again, with APGA, Ekwusigo people have shown exemplary belief in the process of good governance, noting that the new administration will repay them for their support.
On his part, the National Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, noted that APGA remains the only political platform that Ndigbo can lay claim to in the fight for socio-political emancipation, emphasizing that its foundation is rooted in deep values.
The host, Sir Norbert, in his speech, stated that since the formation of APGA in 2002, the party has never lost any election in the local government area, and thanked Ndi Ekwusigo for showing immense support to the party despite all challenges.
Anambra State Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, the chairman of APGA in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Mr. Ikechukwu Obidiugwu, an APGA chieftain from the area, Chief Mentus Mbonu, the convener of Youths Earnestly Seek Soludo, Dr Nelson Omenugha, as well as leaders and members of APGA from and outside the local government area, graced the event.
