Reports say the Federal Government has directed the Nigeria Customs Service to ground ninety-one private jets belonging to some wealthy Nigerians.
Accordingly, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Retired Col Hameed Ali, has written a letter to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency asking them to ground the affected private jets with immediate effect.
The letter directed the agencies to ground the private jets by denying them administrative and operational flight clearances indefinitely.
It was gathered that the ban followed their alleged refusal over their alleged refusal to pay import duties running to over thirty billion naira.
