The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C Don Adinuba, has described writers and poets as the conscience of the society.

He spoke when a group, Opinions from Africa, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat complex in Awka.

Queen Anigbogu reports that while speaking on the Think Anambra, Think Home concept of the group, Mr Adinuba said this is one of the few occasions where writers are not opposed to government policies and programmes noting that it is commendable.

He explained that the Think Home initiative is for the development of Anambra State and  expressed the believe  that the incoming government will sustain the campaign for the benefit of all.

While recounting the many ways the Obiano administration has touched the lives of writers and poets in the State, the Commissioner assured the group of Governor Obiano’s support.

Earlier the leader of the group, Mr Kosisochukwu Nwagbaoso, pointed out that  with the Think Anambra Think Home concept, the group is amplifying the Aku Luo Uno philosophy of the Obiano administration noting the huge benefits Ndi Anambra will enjoy if they heed the call.

He also added that with the concept they are celebrating veteran poets, artists and called for an interface where the veterans will transfer knowledge to the younger generation.

In a vote of thanks, a member of the group, Miss Jidechukwu Nwabueze, appreciated Mr Adinuba for identifying with them right from the inception of the group and prayed God to bless him.
