Anambra Achievers’ Legacy Award (Akululu Uno Amaka – 2021) confers on Governor Willie Obiano an “Excellent Achievers Award – 2021. The event, which forms part of the activities to commemorate Anambra State at 30, would also celebrate and honour 30 exceptional, indigenous achievers who have imbibed the “AKULULU UNO AMAKA” mantra and invested heavily in the state by constructing roads, awarding scholarships, rural electrification, built industries which provided jobs to our youths and increased the revenue profile of the state.

Anambra Achievers Legacy Award is a home-driven and delivery investment organization empowered in line with the “Think Home Philosophy” of Ndi Igbo Nalue Uno and Build a Home.

Even detractors have grudgingly submitted to the fact that the International cargo and passenger airport and the International Convention Center of the Obiano administration are no mean feats. However, its silent achievements in the education sector seem to go unnoticed.

Adam Smith, the pioneering philosopher of free-market capitalism, foreseeing good reasons at the outset of the industrial revolution for nations to educate their populations argued: “The more they are instructed, the less liable they are to the delusions of enthusiasm and superstition”. Also, Kandel declared that “An instructed and intelligent people, besides, are always more decent and orderly than an ignorant and stupid ones.”

No nation can develop without qualitative, affordable and functional education system. Chief Obiano’s drive to give value-based, exportable and qualitative education to Umuakwukwo Anambra resulted to enormous achievements in his over seven years as the Governor of Anambra State.

In the words of Prof. Kate Omenugha, Commissioner for Education said, quote:

“Zero tolerance to examination malpractice was maintained. The wel motivated teachers of the State keyed in, redoubled their efforts in preparing the students and giving them the confidence to face examination without external aids. The result was improved performance of Anambra State in WAEC over the years. WAEC also wrote twice commending Anambra State for credible conduct of examinations and for installing Internet Protocol Cameras in schools’ examination halls to enhance effective electronic monitoring of exams. These resulted to award galore for students/pupils and teachers in national and international competitions.  Anambra children under various categories including the 107 students from the riverine communities, also benefitted from scholarship programmes. Schools’ infrastructure became improved as 750 capacity hostel blocks sprang up in schools, 60 Science Laboratories retooled, fencing projects started and buses provided in schools.”

Anambra State Ministry of Education is also partnering CAPPS ACADEMIC CHAMPIONSHIP to award scholarships to students through an Annual National Academic and Sports Competition geared towards encouraging youth development, academic diligence and career choice rooted in lifeskills to guide our students and eradicate social vices.

On this wise, therefore, Anambra Achievers’ Legacy Award (Akululu Uno Amaka – 2021) – in recognition of Gov Obiano’s giant strides in the education sector – is organizing an “Excellent Achievers Award” to honour him. All roads would lead to the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka on December 30, 2021 where the historical event would hold under the distinguished chairmanship of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, CON, Former Deputy Senate President.

The Anambra State Governor-elect, Professor C. C. Soludo, the Governors of Enugu, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Rivers and Delta States will be special Guests of Honour, while Anambra State House of Representatives members, Speaker and members of the Anambra State House of Assembly and their predecessors in office would be Guests of Honour. Other top government functionaries, Business Moguls, Religious Leaders, Traditional Rulers, Presidents-General of Town Unions, amongst others, would feature prominently.
