The remains of the late Madam Esther Onyima, nee Oguno and popularly known as Ochiora have been laid to rest at her country home, Umuobia Umuoji, Idemili North Council Area.

The late Madam Onyima, who died at the age of ninety-five, was until her death, a devout Christian and a wife of former Anglican Church Catechist, Pa Geoffrey Onyima.

Correspondent, Festus Obierika reports that the late Madam Onyima, was also a leader in the women’s ministry.

Delivering a sermon during the burial service at Saint Mary’s De Virgin Anglican Church Umuoji, the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Dr. Owen Nwokolo assured that all have been liberated through the death of Jesus Christ for Jesus has defeated death for those that believed in him.

Bishop Nwokolo described the late Madam Onyima as a kind, compassionate, lovely and prayerful mother to all that came across her adding that she worked timelessly for the propagation of the gospel.

While urging the children of the deceased to emulate their late parent’s footsteps, Bishop Nwokolo called on the congregation to use God’s given talent to work for him.

In  separate interviews, three of the deceased sons, Chief Emeka Onyima, Dr. Sir Festus Onyima, and Chief Silas Onyima, the President General of Umuoji Improvement Union said that their late mother lived a life of sacrifice, kindness, love and prayer.

On her part, the deceased daughter, Mrs. Justina Obum-Maduka said their late mother instilled hope and trust in God, no matter the circumstance, adding that she was a dedicated Christian, who stood for the truth.

Commiserating with the family on behalf of Umuoji Community, the Regent,  Chief Christopher Nnedu, who described the late Madam Onyima as a peaceful, hardworking and a straight forward woman, who never discriminated in her life time, urged her children to follow her footsteps.

In their comments two of her daughters in-law, Dr Mrs. Ngozi Onyima and Chief Mrs. Lilian Onyima, described their late mother in-law as a brave intellectual and caring mother, whose life was characterized with charity,  regretting that they will miss her good advise and encouragement.

Also commiserating with family, the National President of ASATU, Chief Titus Akudo, who led the union to a courtesy call said the late Madam Onyima was a good mother and encouraged her children to be steadfast in the lord’s vineyard.

Speaking to the ABS, the Pro-Chancellor Legacy University, Dr. Leonard Nkemene, who led the university family to commiserate with one of their own, Chief Dr. Onyima, asked the family to take solace in God the author and finisher of their faith.

The burial service featured special burial rites by members of the Mothers’ Union and Women’s Guild as well as condolences by different groups and family prayers.
