Awka City Stadium will be ready to host its maiden football match, December, twenty-second, 2021.

This hint was given when Governor Willie Obiano inspected the ongoing construction work at the project.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that on arrival, ABS observed that the track has been fully installed, while laying of the synthetic pitch was  ongoing.

Governor Willie Obiano who was in company of his wife, Dr Ebelechukwu expressed happiness at the quality of work done so far and urged the contractor to speed up work to ensure timely completion and delivery.

Governor Obiano noted that apart from the initial teething problem which had been taken care of, the Stadium is FIFA-rated.

The Chairman of Anambra State Sports Commission, Mr. Tony Oli thanked the governor for making the project possible, at noted that, Anambra will have a standard stadium for the first time, adding that, finals of Anambra Academicals will hold, December, twenty-second 2021at the stadium.

While stating that they are at the fourth stage leading to the sixth and final stage, the Contractor of the project, Mr. Ebi Egbe who said the pitch is premium maintained that  it was specially sourced and eco – friendly and pointed out that the athletic track which has a minimum of twenty-five years life span is the closest technology to nature, as the Governor went for the best.

From there, the Governor embarked on inspection at the Anambra International Convention Center, Awka.
