Hardworking women have been identified as veritable instrument for sustainable growth and development of any society.

 

The Convener, Women Initiative for Greater Anambra, WIGA, Mrs Amaka Obi stated this at the occasion of WIGA victory party and Investiture of WIGA, Patrons, Patronesses and Grand Patronesses.

 

Women Initiative for Greater Anambra WIGA otherwise known as Umunwanyi Soludo are one of the major supporters of Professor Soludo who propagated his gospel which contributed immensely towards the victory of Soludo in the November six governorship election that saw him became the Governor-elect.

To appreciate the efforts of those women who are known for grassroots mobilization, the women under the Umbrella body of WIGA  gathered to celebrate the victory of their principal and the Governor-elect of Anambra state, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and also to raise awareness on the need for women to be given maximum recognition and empowered alongside the men folks.

 

Addressing the women, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha who was among the Patronesses commended the women for their impact to protect the future of Anambra state and tasked the group to create avenues that will encourage value reorientation.

In her opening remark, the Convener of WIGA, Mrs Amaka Obi explained that women are the major stakeholders of any election as they represent the greater percentage of voters on election day.

 

She noted that Anambra women in the last election demonstrated great love for the state which she said was born out of their concern for the future of their children.

 

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion Chief Innocent Chikezie who described them as women of honour, thanked them for being committed to integrity, noting that women as driving force for positive change must be  given priority,  adding that the Governor-elect Professor Soludo has itemized his plans for Anambra women in his manifesto.

Some of the awardees including the Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Paschal Agbodike, the state Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr Uchenna Okafor, the Chairman All Soludo Support Group, Mr Chinedu Nwoye, represented by the Special Assistance to Governor Obiano of Awka Community, Comrade Obi Ochije all agreed that women and positive growth and development are inseparable and therefore the need to encourage and give them sense of belonging.

 

The Convener Mrs Amaka Obi, during the event received an Investiture as the grand patroness of WIGA for her great leadership qualities having coordinated all Anambra women both home and in diaspora towards greatness.

The Member, representing Njikoka two at the state house of Assembly, Honourable Pete Ibida, Chief Innocent Nwabueze among others also received Investiture as Patrons of the Women Initiative for Greater Anambra.

 

Cutting of victory cake added glamour to the event held at the Destination Garden Awka.
