An Igbo socio-political pressure group, Igbos for Progressive and United Nationhood, IPAN, has asked political leaders and stakeholders of Igbo extraction to show seriousness if the ethnic group could ever take a shot at the presidency come 2023.
The group stated that the political class in Igbo land should begin to embark on consultations across the different parts of the country, while regretting that while potential aspirants from other regions have already started making moves in preparation for the presidential race, no Igbo aspirant has shown real intention to vie for the office of the President in 2023.
The group made the call in Awka during a press briefing on the state of the Nation.
The National President of the group, Mr Lawrence Onuzulike, reading out the stand of the group, called on potential Igbo aspirants in the major political parties to wake up and put themselves in contention for the presidential tickets in their parties and promised that IPAN will help when necessary to engage other stakeholders across the country and build alliances for the aspirants if only they show more seriousness.
