In the spirit of Christmas, the Anambra state chapter of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, NITP, has visited intimates at the Amawbia Correctional Centre, in Awka South Local Government Area, and two Orphanage homes in Nise and Ifite-Awka, with some items to assist their upkeep.
Items the group visited the correctional centre with include bag of rice, cartons of noodles, detergents, toiletries, cartons of biscuit, among others.
The group also visited Blessed-Nise Orphanage home, Nise, Awka South Council Area, and Model Children’s Home, Ifite-Awka with bag of rice, cartons of sachet milk, cartons of noodles, detergents, toiletries, cartons of biscuit, baby diapers, among others.
Speaking, the Chairman of the Association, Mr Emma Ifemedebe said the outing was part of the activities of the group at the end of every year through which they give back to society and support the less privileged.
Mr Ifemedebe called on other associations across Nigeria to also extend arms of love to the downtrodden in order to make the society better.
Receiving the Items from the group, Welfare Officer of the Amawbia Correctional Centre, Mr Henry Okafor, Manager of Blessed-Nise Orphanage Home, Mrs Vera Ugochukwu, and her Model Children’s Home Ifite-Awka, counterpart, Reverend Sister Philochristi Akuchukwu, thanked them for remembering the inmates and the children, and prayed for God’s blessings on them.
The children made a special prayer for the group during the visit.
