Umuokpala and Umuonuka kindreds in Ekpe Quarter of Nneyi-Umueri, in Anambra East Local Government Area have celebrated their day with pomp and pageantry.
The celebration, which is the fifth in the series, saw men, women and their children gorgeously dressed in different attires to mark the day.
Addressing the gathering, a community leader , Chief Paul Chukwuma, said good leadership brings development closer to the people and urged community leaders to always support the government to achieve its aim, especially in delivering democracy dividends to the masses.
He said that unity promotes a nation and as such, leaders should strive towards ensuring peace and unity amongst the people rather than strife which according to him, retards growth and development.
Earlier, in his welcome address the Chairman, Ekpe Village, Chief Alphonsu Okeke who narrated the travails of his community asked members of his community to undertake projects within the community to Fastrack its development.
Others who spoke on the occasion including Chief Emmanuel Edochie, Chief Pius Okonkwo, Mrs. Christiana Igbem, Chief Frank Ibegbunam among others stressed the need for peace and unity in the community.
Highpoint was the inauguration of the unity Hall and dance displays.
