Over the years, Senator I. G. Abana has continued to sustain humanity through his empowerment programmes and medical outreaches which he has continued with the empowerment of youths numbering over two hundred with startup equipment, after they have undergone training in different fields of endeavour.
He also dolled out gift items to the elderly from seventy years and above as a way to ensure that they are not abandoned in their old age.
Apparently, it is this duty to care for mankind, and show concern for the less privileged and improve the lot of his community that has been the main drive and passion of Senator Ikechukwu Abana to establish the Senator I.G. Abana Foundation.
Since the take-off of the Foundation in April 2010, it has vigorously embarked on programmes that have helped to alleviate the sufferings of the less-privileged people which includes, treatment of one thousand eight hundred and fifty-four persons in various health-related issues, scholarship awards to indigent students, foodstuff assistance schemes and paying of hospital bills to the aged and the indigent in the society as well as loan grants to women.
The items provided to the trainees as startup kits were: Sewing machines, hair dryers, spraying machines, sets of electrical equipment, baking machines, decoration kits, welding machines, industrial cut-off saw machines, cash and other souvenirs.
Senator Abana who appreciated God for the gift of strong health, especially among the elderly, noted that it has been an intensive experience since the foundation began and prayed God to continue to guide and direct them in the right path of the foundation which has been proven to be very impactful in every corner of the community and beyond and called on well-meaning individuals to join hands in reducing the suffering and burden facing the people especially, the downtrodden in the society.
For the member representing Njikoka one in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Timothy Ifediorama, the foundation is second to none as Senator Abana has remained passionate about his quest to place all categories of people at par with each other which has never been politically driven.
Contributing, a member of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, Mr. Sam Ekpeh said the foundation focuses on education, the elderly and alleviation of the plights of the poor in the society which has been achieved in the past years and reminded the beneficiaries that one of the aims of the foundation is to bring to the fore, the need to assist one another.
The President General of Enugwu-Ukwu Development Union, Mr. Bonny Ozonkwaku thanked God for the gift of Senator Abana noting that his laudable projects speak volumes in all aspects of human lives in the community and assured that the town union will continue to monitor the progress made by the beneficiaries to ensure that the aim and objectives of the foundation is achieved.
Some of the beneficiaries including David Anunobi, Chiamaka Okeke and Peace Anaike who were full of excitement’s said that the foundation has since the first year paid their school fees consistently to their final years in the university as well as empowered them with various skills and prayed God to continue to bless Senator Abana.
