Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of the charity organization, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano has acknowledged the birth of Anambra’s first baby of the year 2022 as a redefining blessing for a renewed and more prosperous Anambra State.
Anambra’s first baby of the year 2022, Master Great Ifejika, whose parents hails from Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area, was delivered at eleven minutes past one o’clock in the morning, on January 1, 2022, at Saint Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital, Onitsha.
The Anambra first baby celebration is an annual event conceived by governors’ wife to honour babies born in the earliest minutes of the new year day in the state and with this one being the last in her present capacity as governor’s wife, Dr Obiano said she would miss Anambra women and children, but pledged to always be around to do her work of charity.
In an interview shortly after presenting gifts to the baby and the mother, the Anambra first Lady said that she was certain that the newborn would bring blessings to his immediate family, Anambra State and Nigeria in general.
She said that she felt happy to have witnessed yet another milestone and share in the family’s joy, having embarked on similar visits in the last eight years of her husband’s administration,
The baby’s mother, Mrs Chioma Ifejika, said that her joy was indescribable, adding that they named the baby (Great) because they believe he came into the world to do exploits and thanked the governor’s wife for the honour, promising that she would raise the child in the right way.
Reverend Valentine Obiezu, who is one of the senior administrators in the hospital said that the process leading to the baby’s birth was a bit difficult , but at the end, God took total control and commended the governor’s wife for coming by and prayed God to bless her.
As has also been the tradition, the governor’s wife presented gifts to the newborn and their families, while praying that the baby’s safe delivery would open up the doors of peace and immense opportunities for the state.
Baby Great Ifejika weighed three-point-two kilogram on delivery and is the second child of the young family.
