Few months after the demise of his wife, Mrs Gloria Ukamaka Okafor, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Utilities, Anambra State, Dr Laz Okafor has dedicated a villa and inaugurated a street named after her.

Those were on the sideline of a thanksgiving mass by the family in appreciation to God for the recent appointment of the celebrant as a Permanent Secretary, graduation of his son from medical school as well as conferment of Ozo chieftaincy title on his sons.

Correspondent Blessing Uchendu completes the reports that the mass, held at Saint Edwards Catholic Church, Eziowelle in Idemili North Local Government Area, also marked the end of the family’s wearing of mourning cloth, and to thank God for abundance, grace and mercy upon the family.

Also at the occasion, the Saint Benedict Chapel, built by Dr Okafor was also consecrated.

The Ukamaka Villa, along with Gloria Ukamaka Okafor Street, which is adorned with street lights, are two significant projects to remind both family, friends and the community of what the deceased meant to her family.

Earlier in a homily, an indigenous priest of the town, Reverend Father Clement Obi, asked Christians to think and act positively and believe that with prayer, faith and humility before God, all their expectations would be met.

Inaugurating the Gloria Ukamaka Okafor Street and street light, the National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Chief Titus Akpudo, commended Dr Okafor for still holding on closely to his late wife and cherishing his community, and called on other individuals to assist government in developing their communities.

While reminiscing on the legacies left by his late wife, Dr Okafor described her as a good woman whose intention was always to render help to people and prayed that her soul continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord.

Dr Okafor who appreciated God for his faithfulness upon his family, thanked everyone who has supported the family in any way during their mourning period and prayed for the blessings of God upon them.

The event featured special thanksgiving, commissioning of the projects built to immortalize late Mrs Okafor, as well as prayers at her grave side.
