Ben Ifeatu Laid To Rest At Isiagu, Awka South Council Area

The remains of Ozo Chief Ben Nwoye Ifeatu have been laid to rest in his country home, Iriomam village of Ebe-Awulukwu quarters, Isiagu, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The deceased aged seventy-seven, lived an accomplished life as attested to by family members.

Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that the burial ceremony for the deceased began with a requiem mass held at St Michael’s Catholic Church Isiagu, during which Reverend Father Aaron Abonyi, in a homily, reminded Christians that death is a necessary end, and the need for them to live uprightly.

For Ezinne Mabel Ifeatu, wife of the deceased, her husband, whom she lived with for half a century , was caring, loving and understanding, and played not just the role of a husband, but also that of a brother and father.

She expressed belief that her husband is resting happily in the Lord, owing to the fact that he lived a good Christian life.

Sir Okechukwu Ifeatu, the only son of the deceased explained that his father was a committed community leader, selfless man, loving father and gentleman per excellence, who stood for truth and justice.

He promised to follow the good legacies he left, but noted that his father’s demise left a very big vacuum in their family, even as he appreciated those that came from far and wide to share in their moment of grief.

For the immediate younger brother to the deceased, Ozo Jerry Ifeatu, and the daughter in-law, Lady Obianuju Ifeatu, the late Chief Ben was a good brother and father-in-law, who was very accommodating and honest.

A friend to the Ifeatu family, Barrister Gabriel Muoneke, who came to commiserate with them, prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Among those that attended the burial ceremony were the President, Rotary Club of Awka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor, the Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Awka South Local Government Area chapter, Comrade Uzo Ekemezie.

Condolences by individuals and groups, including the 1989 set of Christ the King College Onitsha featured at the event, while Sir Okechukwu Ifeatu danced around with members of Catholic Men Organization, CMO, to climax the ceremony.
