The remains of the former Njikoka Local Government Chairman, Late Chief Ferdinand Orji Okeke also known as “Eze Okeosisi Na Nawfia”, have been laid to rest at his country home in Urukpaleri village, Ifite Nawfia, Njikoka Council Area of Anambra state.
Late Chief Okeke who died at the age of ninety-four, fathered many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
According to testimonies, people of Nawfia Community, Late Chief Okeke lived for others throughout his life time, and was an example to many through his truthful and philanthropic life style.
The people acknowledged that late Chief Okeke when he was the Chairman of Njikoka Council Area, attracted a lot of development to the area, which minimized the sufferings of the area.
In a sermon, the Parish Priest of Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Nawfia, Reverend Chinedum Nwakalor, cautioned Christians against lives that could hinder them from seeing God after their sojourn on earth, and encouraged them to always live for Christ.
In a remark, the second son of the deceased, Mr Chukwudi Okeke, described his late father as a unique personality whose love for his community and people around him had no comparison, promising to keep to the legacies he left behind.
In an interview, a nephew to the deceased, Chief Stan Nwana said his late uncle really invested in human development, and initiated many development in Nawfia and Njikoka Council area in general, asking the children to toe their late father’s footsteps, and prayed for the eternal repose of his soul.
Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that the burial ceremony featured prayer for the family of the deceased by Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Anglican church Nawfia, dance by Umuada Nawfia, and condolence visits by in-laws and friends of the family.
