It was a celebration of life well spent at Umuenu Village, Umuawulu, Awka South Council Area during the burial ceremony of the late Mrs. Theresa Eziamaka Nwankwo-Orji.

 

The late Mrs. Nwankwo-Orji, aged eighty-two, was the mother of the President, Building Materials International Market Ogidi, Chief Jude Nwankwo.

 

Correspondents, Ngozi Obileri and Chibuzor Obidike report that late Mrs. Nwankor-Orji was, during her burial rites, described as a true Christian, philanthropist and hardworking woman, whose love for the work of God was evident throughout her life time.

In a homily during a requiem mass in her honor at St Joseph Catholic Church, Umuawulu, a visiting Priest, Reverend Father Anthony Ezenwaka said that death is a necessary end for all mortals, but the quality of life lived by every individual is what they are remembered for, adding that the deceased lived a life worthy of emulation.

 

After the interment at her husband’s compound, Umuenu village, Umuawulu, league of sympathizers trooped in to commiserate with Chief Nwankwo and his siblings.

Speaking, Governor Willie Obiano prayed for the eternal repose of late Mrs. Nwankwo -Orji, whom he described as a mother to all.

 

Represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Wealth Creation, Mr. Uche Okafor, Governor Obiano said that Chief Nwankwo has remained a strong supporter of his administration, and has remained very hardworking with the way he has been conducting the activities of the market, which was why he was elected unopposed as the President of the market for the second time, advising them to toe the path of their mother.

The member that represented Anambra Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Victor Umeh commended  Chief Nwankwo and siblings for taking care of their mother, noting  that it is good to rally round them at their trying moments, praying for the eternal repose of the deceased.

 

Other dignitaries present at event, including the Road Safety Commander in charge of Zone 5, Mr Andrew Kumapayi, a Chieftain and member of Igwe in Council Umuawulu, Chief Azubuike Ekweozor, explained that they were at the burial ceremony because of their personal relationship with Chief Nwankwo, whom they described as a good man.

In their separate speeches, Chief Nwankwo and his eldest sister, Mrs. Christiana Odigwe, thanked God that their mother lived a fulfilled life and died a happy woman, and said that they will continue with the legacies bequeathed on them by their mother as part of ways to immortalize her.

 

The traditional ruler of Umuawulu, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu and his cabinet members; as their tradition demands, paid last respect to the deceased and commiserated with their member, Chief Nwankwo, while a popular prophet of God, “Odumeje’’ and some Nollywood actors thrilled spectators with their presence at the event.
