It has been from one story to another in the past 2 weeks for commuters in Abuja as the black marketers takeover fuel pumps in the capital city.
Since the story of adulterated Petroleum hit the waves, commuters have been passing through untold hardship ranging from standing on long queues at fiing stations for many hours to paying five times the tran price for taking public transport.
However, one can easily purchase from the black marketers in front of the filling station at cut throat prices.
The Nyanya Keffi Road, and many other routes known for heavy traffic is free today according to a taxi driver, Ishaka Thomas probably because most of the vehicles are stationed at filling stations waiting for fuel.
Mr.Thomas said most filling stations no longer sell to vehicles but black marketers as they will make more money from them and called on government to clamp down on such retailers who sell to people with jerry cans instead of those with cars.
A black marketer who simply gave her name as mummy Charity said they do not sell at a specific price but based on how one purchased. She said she is selling at N700 because she did not buy at the normal rate and will have to add the price for transportation.
She claimed that their presence is making it easier for commuters who are in a hurry to meet up with their day to day activities as they will no longer queue to get fuel.
For a commuter, Ms. Nnenna Ibeh, the situation has made life stressful as she has to wake up very early to get ready for work else she may not get vehicle which is now very expensive fast enough to get to the office on time.
