About twenty new and old couples have made renewal of their marital vows after a one-day programme titled ‘Divine Marriage Encounter.

The event was organized by Family Light of the Nation Foundation, FLNF, a pro-life and pro-family registered Non-Governmental Organization founded and run by Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, with the objectives of promoting human life, fostering family values and helping to bring harmony in homes.

Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the programme was held at the Mater Christi Human Development and Religious Formation and Counselling Centre, Amawbia.

With the theme “Rekindle Your Love Flame” the couples were trained on how to rediscover the joy of marriage, the life-long fulfilment it can offer, with a view to building a happy home.

In her remark, the coordinator of FLNF, Sister Evelyn-Paula Onodingene, explained that families in contemporary society are so much bedeviled by distrust, violence, and disharmony, and maintained that the society is gradually losing its value due to unstable and dis-functional marriages.

She called on the participants to dust off undesired elements in their marriages as the future of the society depends on the family.

In a lecture titled “Conflict Resolution by Sister Maria Dim of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and Sister Mary Ozowana, called on participants to always love their partner with understanding, avoiding third party, brainstorm on possible resolutions of issues and never allow the devil to set in.

Some  couples who graced the event, Dr. Dennis Ekemezie from Adazi-Nnukwu and Dr. John Ndibe from Amawbia, shared their marriage experiences, and encouraged other couples to back their marriage with, love, prayer and fear of God.

During a Holy Mass at the Chapel of Immaculate Heart of Mary, the officiating Priest, Monsignor Hippolyte Adigwe of Nnewi Catholic Diocese, whose homily centered on “Living Out Christian Life as Couple in today’s world”, stated that there is no perfect family, and as such it takes two imperfect individuals to build a perfect home, calling on the couples to build their family with trust and fear of God.

Speaking on behalf of others, Mr. John Oye expressed confidence that the programme would go a long way in repositioning already shattered marriages.
