The Bishop on the Niger, the Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo has charged priests of God to keep the vows they made and fulfill the duties of the office to which they have been called.
Bishop Nwokolo, who gave the charge when he collated six Archdeacons and eight canons at the All-Saints Cathedral Onitsha, prayed God to make them perfect in every good work they do.
In a sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Nike Diocese, the Right Reverend Christian Onyia, urged Anglican Priests to always uphold sound Anglican tradition and standard, as well as watch selves and congregation against abuses and eventual spiritual backsliding.
The new Archdeacons and Canons, who made declarations against simony and submission to synod, also took oaths of Canonical Obedience, Submission, Allegiance to God and Oath of Belief while Bishop Nwokolo gave them the Deed of Collation after reading it to them.
Bishop Nwokolo also admitted Barristers Ben Uzuegbu and Chijioke Emeka SAN, as Deputy Chancellors of Diocese on the Niger.
Correspondent Oggorchukwu Oranu reports that the Sub Dean of the All-Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, Venerable Samuel Ezewudo installed the canons while Bishop Nwokolo performed that of the Archdeacons.
