The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council, has inaugurated various Sub-committees with a view to accelerating growth and progress of the Union.
The inauguration took place at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka, during the maiden congress of the union which saw the consecration of the brand new eighteen-seater bus donated to the union by Governor Willie Obiano.
Inaugurating the committees, the Chairman of the union Dr. Emeka Odogwu, said they have two weeks to streamline their activities and work for the council with utmost dedication to enable the new leadership achieve its agenda.
He commended Governor Willie Obiano for the new bus donated to the union, describing him as media friendly.
In his speech, the guest speaker and Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Charles Esimone, who assured that the University will always sustain the already existing relationship with members of the NUJ in Anambra State extolled Governor Obiano for building the Anambra International Cargo and Passengers airport, which he described as one of the major legacies of his administration.
The Managing Director and Editor in Chief of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, Publishers of National Light Mr. Chuka Nnabuife, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, and Former Acting Registrar Federal Polytechnic Oko, Mr. Obini Onuchukwu, commended the giant strides recorded so far in the union, calling for its sustenance.
Earlier, the Director of Fides Media, Reverend Father Martins Anusi, who consecrated the new NUJ bus, urged everyone to support the new leadership of the council for the growth of the union.
Correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata reports that over twenty committees were inaugurated at the congress, with the Director of News and Current Affairs Department of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, heading the 2022 Awards Committee.
