Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account has called on government ministries and agencies coming for the verification of their 2021 transactions to supply their documents to the committee before hand; to enable them do thorough job.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the committee made the call when key officials of the Transport Company of Anambra State, TRACAS, appeared before it for the verification of their financial transactions for the year under review.
The committee, which spoke through its Chairman, Sir Somtochukwu Udeze, explained that the essence of the meeting is to ascertain how government agencies expended funds appropriated to them, in order to enthrone transparency and accountability in government business, reduce expenses, discourage corruption and encourage due process in public accounting system.
The committee however commended the Managing Director of TRACAS, Dr. Ifeoma Madukasi for the transformation she brought to TRACAS and for keeping her records straight.
Also at the meeting, key officials of the Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission defended their financial transactions before the committee for the year 2021.
