The state government has presented certificate of recognition to the traditional ruler of Ikem-Ivite, Anambra East Council Area, Igwe Simeon  Obidike.

 

The presentation which was done at the office of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters was witnessed by some Ndi Ichie, Royal Cabinet Members of the Community, the youths and many others who came to show their solidarity and support to Igwe Obidike who is now Eze Ezu the second of Ikem Ivite.

 

Correspondent Amaka Chibuzor Okoye witnessed the presentation, and reports that while presenting the certificate on behalf of the state government to the new traditional ruler,  the Public Relations Officer Ministry of Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, Comrade Henry Nwasike said having been dully selected and presented to government by the people of the community and after thorough investigation, they certified and found him worthy of recognition.

Comrade Nwasike asked him to carry everyone along and contribute to the growth and development of the community as some others vied for the position but the community unanimously supported and gave him the mandate to be their traditional ruler.

 

The former Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government, Chieftaincy and Town Union Matter’s, Barrister Vera-Queen Okonkwo, encouraged the traditional ruler to ensure that peace and tranquility prevailed in the community noting that he should call all the parties together and sue for oneness and love.

 

Responding after receiving the certificate, the new traditional ruler of Ikem-Ivite, Igwe Obidike thanked God for the honour, reminding Ndi Ikem-Ivite that they are one and have no other place than their community, urging them to join him and see to the success of the community.

 

In their separate speeches, a chieftain in the community, Chief Ozodigbo Akwobi and a Bosom Friend to Igwe Obidike, Chief Augustine Chioba said it has been a challenging period  for them but thanked God for the peaceful resolution of all issues, assuring that he will use his wealth of knowledge and ideas to transform the community to be an envy of their neighboring communities.

 

Igwe Obidike will now be addressed as Eze Ezu the second of Ikem-Ivite while presentation of the certificate climaxed the event.
