Professor Chukwuma Soludo has assumed duty as the sixth Executive Governor of Anambra State, in line with his assurance to start office work immediately after being sworn-in.
Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the Governor made his way into his office for a brief prayer said by Most Reverend Valerian Okeke and Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim.
Shortly after, Governor Soludo convoked his first security council meeting, followed by meeting with the Permanent Secretaries, a meeting on Okpoko, as well as with Strategy, Execution and Evaluation team of the Governor.
Professor Soludo said that within one week, the list of his commissioner nominees will be laid before the State House of Assembly for consideration.
Earlier while presenting what he described as the Soludo Solution in his inaugural address, Governor Soludo hinted that his contract with Anambra people derives from three seminal documents including the Anambra Vision 2070-a fifty year development plan, the Soludo Solution: A People’s Manifesto for a Greater Anambra, and the Transition Committee Combined Report with an agenda for an itinerant tribe in search of a livable and prosperous homeland, with the goal to build Anambra into a livable and prosperous smart megacity.
He emphasized that his administration’s detailed plan rests on five key pillars including law and order, economic transformation, competitive and progressive social agenda, governance, rule of law and a rebirth of the value system, as well as tackling existential threats faced by the environment.
The Governor expressed commitment to building a new social and economic order that guarantees and defends economic freedom and rewards private enterprise to secure the future, pledging to champion the promotion of local brands and delicacies, even as he pointed out that his administration will soon inaugurate the Anambra Innovation and Technology Advisory Council to drive the emergence of the digital tribe and mainstreaming technology and innovation across all aspects of life.
He further explained that over the next two years, his administration shall review and amend relevant legislations, reform and strengthen local government system for efficiency, restructure and strengthen the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, and conduct local government elections, leveraging on collaboration with local government areas to ensure synergy.
