Ndịgbo have been urged to remain firm in the drive to actualize a president of Igbo extraction in the 2023 general elections.
Speaking to journalists in Awka, the State President of Ọhaneze Ndịgbo Prince Emeka Udodeme said the socio-cultural organisation is resolute in its stand on Igbo Presidency.
Paul Ezeoke reports that Prince Udodeme expressed satisfaction that notable Igbo presidential aspirants are emerging in various political parties which he said are strong indications that Ndịgbo is very ready to meet the expectations of Nigerians.
He advised all political parties to ensure that they elected candidates of Igbo extraction as their presidential flag-bearers in the coming election in the spirit of fairness, equity and good conscience.
Prince Udodeme noted that Ndịgbo are endowed with enterprising spirit and a sense of industry that if given the opportunity, will change the national narrative and bring permanent solutions to challenges confronting the country, noting that such reforms will launch the country on a course for sustainable development.
He called on other geo-political zones to give Ndịgbo the needed support to bring a new dawn to the country while commending Governor Soludo for strong steps taken so far to kick start the implementation of his policies and programmes.
Also speaking, an APGA chieftain, Dr Mike Omenugha said Governor Soludo has made a strong statement by embarking on the upgrade of Okpoko and environs which he noted will restore the hope of improved standard of living for the residents of the area and change their lifestyle.
According to Dr Omenugha, desilting and opening drainages in the area will reduce the devastation of flooding not only in Okpoko but also in the entire commercial city of Onitsha and neighbouring towns as well as attract more businesses to the areas.
While commending Governor Soludo for his courage and political will in banning touting and illegal revenue collection, he noted that this will boost commercial activities and attract more businesses to the state while youths hitherto engaged in touting will be encouraged to acquire skills to become productive and useful to the society.
