There is hardly any doubt about Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s outstanding academic, professional and leadership credentials.
The former governor of Nigeria’s bankers’ bank cuts an age-long list of excellence, starting from his early days as a student of Economics at the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka, graduating with first class honours, and then moving on to become a household name in national and international economic sector.
Prior to the March 17 official inauguration of a new government in Anambra State, Professor Soludo had enjoyed a litany of recommendations from mostly notable Nigerians who attested that the Isuofia-born intellectual was what the State had been missing.
These fine references still rest, reassuredly, in the hearts of many Ndi Anambra, who see the dawn of the new government as the starting point of something unprecedented.
Nigeria’s former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who appointed Professor Soludo the CBN Governor in May 2004, during his recent visit to Anambra State, described the Anambra State Governor as special breed, exceptional for his economic brilliance.
On his part, a former Secretary-General of Commonwealth of Nations, Chief Emeka Anyaoku said that Professor Soludo’s kind is rare, and should be held jealously by the society where they exist.
Correspondent Gab Okpalaeze reports that these testimonials, coming from Nigeria’s two and only members of the Commonwealth Eminent Persons Group, have just made a statement as to the stuff Anambra’s new helmsman is made of.
