Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike has assured that government will partner communities to ensure functionable health centers to enable people at the grassroots to have quality and accessible health care.

Dr Obidike, who stated this at Oraifite General Hospital, during his tour of primary health care facilities across the state, said the tour was aimed at ascertaining gap analysis, identifying areas of need and knowing where the government can come in.

The commissioner, who promised a functional X-ray Machine and Oxygen to Oraifite General Hospital, disclosed that he started the tour with the hospital because of the patriotism of Oraifite people, who used their funds to equip the hospital and built structures assuring that he will replicate Oraifite Model in other hospitals.

He further unveiled that in the next three months, Ndi Anambra will use their phones to book appointments with any doctor of their choice from any part of the world which is the first of its kind in Nigeria and thanked the Oraifite people for their assistance to the government.

The Chief Medical Director of Oraifite General Hospital, Dr Innocent Umeakunne, who took the Health Commissioner around the various unit of the hospital confirmed that most of the things in the hospital were done by Oraifite people noting that they treat all diseases and offer twenty-four hours service.

The Health Commissioner on arrival, paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Oraifite, Igwe Daniel Udorji, who described Oraifite Community as a peculiar town with generous people, who are out to develop their town.

The Palace Secretary, Mr. Kenneth Nduka called for more workers in the hospital and government attention in other sectors in the community while the first Vice President of Oraifite Improvement Union, Engineer Edmund Ugwuezumba, thanked the Health Commissioner for visiting.
