Members of the Knighthood order of the Anglican church have been charged to always use their positions in defending their faith in addition to protecting the oppressed.

 

The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor who gave the charge at the Cathedral Church of Saint John Ekwulobia during the Knighthood investiture of some faithful in the order of saint Christopher, urged the novices that were Made knights not to see it as a title but a call to be firm and steadfast in their service to God and humanity.

 

Bishop Ezeofor who maintained that a Christian knight must be committed to serving God in Christ, through serving the church, cautioned them against belonging to any secret society or cults and reminded them of the need to ensure the existence of friendship and harmony among the church members at all times as well as good relationships with the members of the public at large.

 

According to Bishop Ezeofor who said that Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead so that the faithful will be justified, Christians must desist from those acts that will lead them astray.

 

Bishop Ezeofor who is also the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion EFAC Nigeria maintained that it is dangerous for one to be a Christian without knowing the scripture.

 

The novices that were Made Knights of Saint Christopher including Ezinwa Onyekwelu, Chinedu Okponwa, and Chinedu Modebe during the pledge which they made with the holy Bible promised to encourage the growth of the church and to live Christ-like lives.

 

The service was attended by the Aguata Diocesan Registrar, Mr Obumneme Okafor, President Aguata Diocesan council of Knights, Sir Isaiah Ezezika, former chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Lady Uche Nwosu and also featured a special prayer for the return of normalcy in different parts of the country.

 

The Permanent Secretary of the Anambra State Ministry of Trade and Commerce and the supervising Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Sir Chinedu Ike equally attended the event.

 

Highlight of the investiture was the issuance of certificates as contained in their pledge and sword as a sword of the spirit by Bishop Ezeofor to the new Knights of Saint Christopher.
