The state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Pauly Onyeka, has toured Anambra International Convention Center Awka.
Mr. Onyeka, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Ifeoma Ezeaku, Director Architectural Services Department of the ministry, Architect Kelechi Mbanugo and other members of the ministry, were taken around the various apartments and sections of the Convention Centre by the contractor handling the project, Mr. Mark Tu and other project managers.
Areas inspected were the main and mini halls, gallery, control rooms, the stage, escalator, pre-function area, and the VIP rooms among others.
Speaking after the inspection, Commissioner Onyeka expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done at the edifice saying that it is of international standard and first of its kind in South-East Nigeria and sub-Sahara Africa.
Honurable Onyeka, who urged the contractor handling the project to finalize the fixing of protectors on the surrounding walls as well as other minor works, emphasized that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has zero tolerance for substandard work, hence, the need to give a professional touch to every aspect of the project.
The contractor, Mr. Tu, thanked the commissioner for his visit and promised to expedite action on the finishing touches.
The Convention Centre has a total of ten thousand seating capacity.
