The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has called on the Federal Government to take more proactive measures that will guarantee the safety of Nigerians.

 

Archbishop. Ibezim made the call while presenting his charge to delegates attending the Third Session of the Twelveth Synod of Awka Diocese holding at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Abagana.

the Prelate advocated that aspirants of Igbo extraction be given the chance of becoming the president of Nigeria for the interest of peace, justice and equity.

 

The Archbishop who lamented that the future of the Nigerian children is being compromised call on the federal government to fulfil the Memorandum of Understanding agreed with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to ensure that lecturers go back to work.

The Prelate also appealed to the federal government to put up best approaches in arresting the dearth of doctors and nurses in the country.

 

On the state of Anambra State, the Archbishop advised the present administration led by Professor Chukwuma Soludo to avoid issues that may lead to distraction, remain people oriented and ready to dialogue with the people at all levels, for the interest of peace and progress in the state.

While moving the motion for adoption of the Archbishop’s charge, as a working document in the diocese, the Diocesan Chancellor, Justice O. J Okeke, described the charge as a masterpiece worthy for reading, assimilation, and for research.

 

On his part the Archdeacon Abagana Archdeaconry, Venerable Solomon Chidoka, who thanked the Archbishop for hosting the synod in Abagana, said it will positively transform the lives of the community at large.

The theme of the Synod, “Running the Christian Race; Implications of Believers in Perilous Times” .

The Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba represented by the Dean, Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Buba Lamido, and over Forty Bishops and Archbishops attended the ceremony.
