Some major broadcast media establishments in the country have endorsed the Nigerian Broadcasting Awards scheduled to hold in October, 2022.

 

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Awards Steering Committee, whose members paid courtesy visits to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Nigerian Television Authority, DAAR Communications and Abuja Broadcasting Corporation.

 

The awards are being organized by theBroadcasting Organization of Nigeria to recognize and reward excellence in the industry at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.

 

The Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria delegation, led by Mr. Bayo Awosemo of Arise News, was received by Dr. Mansur Liman, the Director-General.

 

Speaking during the visit, Mr Awosemo requested the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria to support the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria in its bid to deliver a high- calibre awards ceremony to celebrate professional accomplishments in the Nigerian broadcasting industry.

 

Responding, Mr Liman, who is also the Vice Chairman of Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria, commended the decision to celebrate broadcasting industry professionals whose talents, for long, have not been formally recognized and rewarded.

 

At the Nigerian Television Authority, members of the committee were received by the Director-General, Mallam Yakubu Ibn-Mohammed, who described the Nigerian Broadcasting Awards as an intervention necessary to raise practice standards in the industry.

 

The Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority also promised to ensure that the event is successful by putting resources of the Nigerian Television Authority at the disposal of the Steering Committee.

 

Earlier Chief Tony Akiotu, Group Managing Director of DAAR Communications, delivered his organizations endorsement of the awards in addition to advising the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria’s delegation on the need to recognize and reward broadcasting superstars of yesteryears just as the current crop will be recognized.

 

The Managing Director of Abuja Broadcasting Corporation, Mallam Ibrahim Damisa, who also made the same appeal as his DAAR Communications counterpart enjoined the delegation to remember sacrifices of previous stars of the industry.
