The State President of Ọhaneze Ndịgbo Prince Emeka Udodeme has called for collective efforts to increase the voting strength of Anambra State and South East zone.

 

Speaking to journalists in Awka, Prince Udodeme said this will give the state and the region stronger bargaining power in Nigeria Politics.

 

 

Prince Udodeme said the time has come for people of the area to take their destiny in their hands and reassume their rightful position in the national political space.

 

He called on eligible voters who have already registered to collect their permanent voters cards while those who have not registered should do so to ensure they equip themselves properly to participate in the electoral process to give Ndịgbo the needed number to compete effectively with other zones in future elections.

 

Prince Udodeme urged community leaders and other stakeholders to join hands in mobilizing people in the area to see voting in elections as a civic responsibility that would help to entrench good governance and encourage those elected to various positions to remain accountable to the people and recalled that Ọhaneze Ndịgbo youths had in the past sustained efforts in sensitizing the people to be actively involved in the electoral processes.

 

The Ohaneze Ndigbo state President urged political parties to ensure transparency and objectivity in the conduct of their primaries to give all aspirants level playing ground to consolidate on gains of democracy.

 

Also speaking, the state Vice Chairman of APGA Anambra Central, Sir Theophine Nnoli said eligible voters in Igboland should change their perception of the Nigeria electoral process as INEC has introduced innovations and advanced technologies that improved credibility of the entire process to restore people’s confidence.

 

Sir Theophine made it clear that permanent voters cards remain effective tool with which the electorate could actualize the desired change and enthrone leadership of their choice as well as contribute in protecting democratic institutions.

 

He called on INEC to provide adequate manpower and logistics that would give eligible voters easy access to registration and collection of PVCs.
