The All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA has conducted Primary elections for its State House of Assembly Aspirants in Anambra State
The Election which took place at designated centres across the thirty constituencies were adjudged as transparent, fair and credible
on Arrival at the State Headquarters in Awka about nine o’ clock in the morning, it was observed that the office was filled to the brim as National officers were seen addressing the Electoral officers on how best to conduct the primary election which was later followed by distribution of both sensitive and insensitive election materials.
While addressing the officers, the APGA National Vice President South West and Chairman for Anambra State Assembly Primaries, Deacon Samson Olalare urged them to use only delegate lists authenticated by the National Chairman to ensure a free, fair, transparent and credible election devoid of bitterness and rancor.
Dr Olalare categorically stated that statutory delegates are not allowed to vote during the primaries and cautioned the electoral officers to strictly adhere to the party guidelines in the conduct of the Primaries
Monitoring the election at Umuriam Hall, the designated center for Njikoka one Constituency, Delegates were seen seated for accreditation that commenced at about two pm before the voting at Three o’clock in the afternoon.
Shortly after voting, counting commenced, followed by the declaration of a winner.
Declaring the Winner, the returning Officer for Njikoka one Constituency Mr. Uche Nzeamala declared Mr. Chidiebele Ibemeka the Winner of the election for polling thirteen Votes out of the twenty-four Votes cast by the delegates and lauded the delegates and the aspirants for the manner they conducted themselves during the election.
Reacting to his victory, Chief Ibemeka dedicated the victory to the masses and called on other aspirants to join hands with him to ensure that their party emerges victorious during the 2023 general election.
Commenting on the Process, the Member Representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Hon Chinedu Obidigwe applauded the APGA electoral process, describing the present Leadership of APGA led by Chief Victor Oye as one that has brought sanity to the Party.
