The Chief Medical Director of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Dr Joe Akabuike says the hospital has recorded a tremendous development in both infrastructure and efficient service delivery.

 

Dr Akabuike disclosed this while briefing the Press over a malicious report by a national daily against the hospital recently.

 

Health Correspondent, Chibuzor Okoye reports that while addressing the press, Dr Akabuike who regretted that the malicious report by a national daily on the eightieth of May, 2022 against him was suicidal, defaming and injurious, said that the aim of the report is solely known to the writer and his sponsors alone and refuted all the allegations levelled against him.

 

The Chief Medical Director noted that he started a process of visible, tactical and palpable reforms to make the hospital one of the best teaching hospitals in Nigeria in the area of infrastructural development and efficient service delivery.

 

Dr Akabuike made it clear that within one year in office, he has improved the working conditions of the staff and management of the hospital, built and equipped a dialysis unit and trained renal nurses on the use of dialysis machines.

 

According to the CMD, he also procured a power generating set to provide twenty-four hours power supply to the dialysis machines and wards, provision of street lights, introduction of Service Compact With All Nigerians (SERVICOM) to serve their patients effectively, completed and commissioned a mother and child referral centre, procurement of 3D ultrasound machine, among numerous others and urged journalists to always engage in investigative journalism rather than peddling of fake news.

 

The COUTH boss, who promised that the hospital will continue to live up to its mandate, assured that under his watch, the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka will become one of the best teaching hospitals in Nigeria.
