All is now set for the 2nd session of the 5th synod of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi as the Headquarters of Amichi West Archdeaconry, Saint Peter’s Anglican Church Umudim Amichi, venue of the synod is wearing a new look.
This was observed when the Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor made final inspection visit to the venue where he expressed satisfaction with the preparedness of the host Church.
The synod will be holding on Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June 2022 with the theme “Strangers and Pilgrims in the World, Our Christian Status”.
Speaking during a pre-synod press briefing held after the inspection,
Bishop Ikeakor called for restoration of consciousness of heaven and kingdom of God in the life of Christians.
The Bishop who stated that synod is the highest legislative body of any Diocese gave brief history, origin of synod and over view of the theme of the synod, regretting that many Christians have forgotten that they are strangers on earth and stressed the need for Christians to live their life carefully, totally different from the standard and behavior of the world.
The Anglican Prelate noted some challenges confronting Christianity in this 25th century to include people reverting to paganism, laying emphasis on materialism, fund raising not after soul winning and contradictory life style of some preachers and called for genuine repentance.
The Bishop outlined numerous achievements of the Diocese within one year to include building of multi million naira projects including an Altra modern and standard state of the Arts Chapel at Master’s Vessel Seminary Osumenyi, School of Nursing Sciences of the Diocese fully equipped and accredited and installation of an Education Website and E library, completion of School of Midwifery block fully equipped and dedicated , ongoing accreditation, establishment of Isacar Communication Academy fully registered for students of their two schools, Holy Child Convent Amichi and Master’s Vessels Seminary Osumenyi among others.
The Bishop also stated that within the one year, the Diocesan integrated farm and the water factory at Unubi have received a boost while the Diocesan hospital with assistance from a foundation held a mega medical mission where one thousand, nine hundred and sixteen patients were attended to and nine hundred and seventy-five eye related problems which took them to another level of providing them most modern muddler eye theatre equipment worth thirty-six million naira for all eye surgery.
