The Independent National Electoral Commission in Anambra State has created additional registration centers in the twenty-one local government areas across the state to arrest the surge in the number of citizens seeking to register during the on- going Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji disclosed this during a media briefing in Awka.

Dr. Orji revealed that the surge in the number of prospective registrants has put pressure on the resources

and capacity of the commission, which according to him, resulted in long que and inconveniences on the part of the prospective registrants.

He stressed that the commission, is also reopening some of its local government offices that were shut down as a result of insecurity to ensure that all, who participate in the exercise are registered.

The REC appealed to the prospective registrants to exercise patience and understanding with the situation, assuring that the CVR exercise will continue to run until thirtieth June 2022.

Dr. Orji, who reminded the public that registration is free, charged them to report any staff of the commission, who engaged in extortion or any other form of misconduct during the exercise via 07043528329 for disciplinary actions.

He maintained that complaints should contain specific details, including names and locations, that would aid the commission in judicious handling of the issues.
