The Anambra Youth Volunteers is seeking partnership with the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, to strengthen the quest for a secure and peaceful Anambra State.

The group stated this while making a presentation before the ASATU General Assembly at its secretariat in Awka.

the delegation, led by its leader, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, said the visit was in line with the call on Anambra youths by Professor Chukwuma Soludo, to take back the State from those whose intents are to elicit fear and destroy lives and property.

He explained that the group has also formed what is called “Anambra Youth Volunteer Scheme”, an engaging approach that aims at encouraging youths to take responsibility and add value, rather than getting involved in crimes.

Mazi Okpalaezeukwu further stated that the volunteer group is made up of indigenous and responsible Igbo youths, who devoted their time, energy and resources to assisting the state government and security agencies, and pleaded for support from the presidents general of every community to ensure that Anambra State is secured.

Welcoming the delegation, the National President of ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo, who commended the initiative of the group to rise up when it matters most, said that with their plans to collaborate with the PGs, youths would be properly engaged, and promised them a maximum support and counsel where necessary.
