Anambra State government has banned officials serving under it from making public donations in functions.

 

Governor Chukwuma Soludo stated this at the second session of the fifth Synod of the Diocese of Amichi.

 

Governor Soludo explained that the directive to public officials is part of his administration’s effort to fight corruption, adding that it is also aimed at ensuring probity and transparency.

 

He drew the attention of the church to the unfortunate threat of idolatry which is gradually holding seat across the region, noting that the body of Christ, being one, should synergize and tackle the common threat.

 

Speaking earlier, the President of the synod and Bishop of Amichi Diocese Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor who said that Ndi Anambra have trust in Governor Soludo to deliver on his mandate because he has the capacity, competence and experience to change the Anambra story.

 

While asking him to look for competent contractors for Anambra roads and not using road contracts to compensate party loyalists, the Prelate noted that as a man of integrity, God brought him as Governor in this critical time because of a reason and prayed for him to overcome all the challenges bedevilling his government.

 

The Governor was accompanied by his wife Nonye as prayer for the Governor and the State was part of the highpoint of the service.

 

The Synod which has the theme; Strangers and Pilgrims in the World: Our Christian Status, took place at Saint Peter’s Church, Amichi in Nnewi South Local Government Area.
