The Commissioner for Health Dr Afam Obidike says the state government is working tirelessly to ensure that all State-owned hospitals continue to grow both in infrastructure and efficient service delivery.
Dr Obidike stated this when he joined some health professionals at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, to stabilize some accident victims.
while speaking to newsmen in the hospital, Dr Obidike said that the victims were critically injured when they were brought to the hospital, and that they have been able to stabilize all of them as they have sent some to do x-ray, ultrasound and CT scan to ascertain the magnitude of their injuries.
The Health Commissioner said that one of the health objectives of governor Chukwuma Soludo is to ensure that Ndi Anambra get accessible and affordable health services through making all government hospitals to be ready to respond to emergencies at all times.
He further promised that all the gaps noticed would be tackled accordingly, even as he expressed delight that the level of services being rendered by the hospital has improved tremendously from what it used to be.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Josephat Akabuike who was equally on ground to ensure that the accident victims received top-notch services, commended the Commissioner for being responsive as a health expert.
Dr Akabuike who said that the hospital has both the facility and the manpower to treat all kinds of emergencies praised governor Soludo for prioritizing the health needs of Ndi Anambra.
A sympathizer, Apostle Samson Ikemefuna, from Umunya, in Oyi Local Government Area who said that one of his members was affected by the accident equally eulogized Governor Soludo, the Commissioner, Dr Obidike and the medical team at the hospital for exceeding his expectations through prompt services to the patients.
It was gathered that the victims were brought in from two separate accidents, which occurred around Regina Caeli Junction, Enugu-Onitsha Express Road, Awka, where a vehicle hit a stationed trailer along the road and around Umuokpu Awka, where some vehicles collided and burnt beyond recognition.
