The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger andAnglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has charged Christians to be more committed to evangelism, in order to win souls for Christ.
Archbishop Ibezim gave the charge at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka, during a special service to mark this year’s CMS, anniversary.
Christianity came into Igbo land on twenty-seventh July, 1857, and this year’s event marked the one hundred and sixty-five years of its existence in the land.
Archbishop Ibezim pointed out that advent of Christianity brought development and led to the abolishment of some obnoxious practices in Igboland, including killing of twins, slave trade, among others.
In a sermon, Venerable Onyinyechukwu Ilione, who went down memory lane on how Christianity was brought to Nigeria and Igboland, urged Christians to be ready to preach the gospel at all times, as God commanded every believer.
In an interview, the President of Mens Fellowship of the Awka Diocese, Sir Emmanuel Nwosu, while regretting that men of this generation now backslide in the work of God, called on them to renew efforts in the work of evangelism for God’s blessings here on earth and in heaven.
The service, which featured special renditions, drama, dance, among other side attractions, was also attended by the Chancellor of Awka Diocese, Justice Okechukwu Okeke.
Meanwhile, The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim says Governor Chukwuma Soludo made a right choice with the appointment of Sir Chido Obidiegwu as the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service.
Most Reverend Ibezim, stated this when he led members of the clergy to ABS Corporate headquarters in Awka to felicitate with Sir Chido on his recent appointment.
Most Reverend Ibezim who was represented by his Administrative Assistant, Venerable Rex Kanu said that seeing what Sir Chido has done in the Media industry, he is optimistic he will take ABS to enviable heights as the mouth piece of the State.
Most Reverend Ibezim also intimated the ABS Managing Director of his forthcoming sixtieth birthday anniversary, years of episcopacy and Archiepiscopacy, as well as years of marriage among other numerous God’s blessings and requested the partnership of the establishment towards the success of the events.
The Chairman, Planning Committee of the event Sir Ejike Mgbemena highlighted that the Primate Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba will preside over the service.
Responding, the Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Sir Chido said he felt elated to receive Archbishop Ibezim and his entourage, describing the prelate as man of God per excellence.
