Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency has given an account of over eight hundred million naira deployed to the state by the Federal Government for basic health care provision.

 

The Executive Secretary of Anambra State Basic Healthcare Provision Fund, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu rendered the account during a press briefing organized by the agency in Awka.

 

According to Dr. Ezenyimulu, over eight hundred million naira was paid into Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and Central Bank of Nigeria account as basic health care provision fund by the Federal Government from 2020 till date and over three hundred and fifty-seven million naira had been deployed to three hundred and thirty-two health facilities across the State, while over four hundred million naira is still in the bank for future disbursements.

 

Dr. Ezenyimulu disclosed that each political ward now has a functional primary health care facility and the health centers have been renovated with the money from the basic health care provision fund and equipped with necessary facilities.

 

Dr. Ezenyimulu said those who are signatories to the accounts in the facilities are the ward development committee Chairmen and as well as the officer in charge of the facility, adding that the National Primary Healthcare does the authorization for disbursements

 

She maintained that the agency monitored the renovation of the facilities as well as other activities in all the primary health centers to ensure that the purpose of the fund was not defeated.

 

On her part, the Executive Director for Social and Integral Development Centre in Anambra State, Mrs Ugochi Iheahuruike expressed joy that the agency is working in line with the guidelines of the Federal Government on Basic HealthCare Provision Fund
