The state Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, has warned beneficiaries of Anambra State Labour Intensive Public Workfare, LIPW, to be dedicated to their assigned duties or face replacement.

 

Mrs. Nnake gave the warning in an interview, shortly after inaugurating the LIPW Work Tools and Kits, at Amawbia, Awka South Council Area.

 

LIPW, is an Anambra State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, AN-CARES, implemented by Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, CSDA.

 

While describing the opportunity as a privilege, Mrs. Nnake, who noted that others are waiting, stressed the need for the programme to succeed as it will assist the state in doing more towards achieving it’s set goals as well as strengthen trust between Anambra State Government and development partners.

 

She noted that LIPW is a-two-year new job stream, targeted at achieving a clean Anambra State.

 

The General Manager, Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu, who described reports from various communities on the performance of LIPW workers as encouraging, assured the readiness of the agency in doing the needful.

 

While calling for the sustainability of the programme, Mr. Mojekwu noted that it takes the youths off the street thereby reducing youth restiveness, crime and criminality to the barest minimum.

 

In his remarks, the National Vice President, Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Chief Chuka Moumaife, lauded the state government for its continued payment of Government Cash Counterpart Contribution, GCCC.
