Anambra State Government has received sixteen computer laptops from a Non-Governmental Organization for the biometric capturing of People Living with HIV/AIDS in the State.
The event took place at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat complex in Awka.
Receiving the laptops which will be deployed to some medical facilities in the state, the Anambra state Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike thanked the organization for partnering the State government in the health sector, especially as it concerns HIV/AIDS awareness campaign and prevention.
Dr Obidike who promised that the State government will make adequate and effective use of the computers noted that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is so passionate about technology and innovation.
He pointed out that the computers will assist those working in the HIV/AIDS department and other relevant partners in the State to discharge their duties effectively.
It was gathered that the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in Anambra State is two-point-four percent and the laptops can ensure a smooth move from paper based to electronic record system.
The electronic capturing will equally enhance unique identifier, helps to identify duplicate records, patient monitoring, patient information retrieval among others.
