Anambra Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo has declared that the present administration has zero tolerance for human trafficking, child abuse and maltreatment of house helps.

Mrs Obinabo, who declared this while speaking in an interview with Njideka Okoye in Awka, said despite the abolition of slavery, people still practice it informally by indulging in human trafficking, child abuse, domestic violence and maltreatment of house helps.

Describing it as horrible, especially the way some parents maltreat their wards, Commissioner Obinabo reminded them that the fact, that the wards are under their care does not mean that they are their slaves.

She noted that Governor Chukwuma Soludo in a bid to eradicate these acts, established family court for accelerated hearing and proper judgement.

The commissioner, while appealing to Ndi Anambra to say no to slavery, advised parents to always radiate love and see the image of God in anybody that encounters them.
